A TEENAGER who made off with a forklift truck has been sentenced.
The young boy, from Henley-on-Thames, stole a forklift truck without consent from an agricultural supplier in Cane End, Sonning Common, before overturning a car.
He then continued to drive the truck around without care and attention, and police found an unloaded firearm in his possession during the incident.
The incident occurred on September 13 2016 between 7:20pm and 8:30pm.
The 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been ordered to pay compensation to the owner of the car, as well as being handed a youth rehabilitation order.
He pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated taking without consent, one count of careless driving, and one count of possession of an unloaded firearm.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Fran Griffin of Force CID Abingdon, said: "I am pleased that this teenager has owned up to his offences.
"This was a serious incident that could have injured members of the public, and the boy also put himself at risk.
"His actions were reckless and stupid and we hope that his conviction serves as a warning to him and others".
He was sentenced at Oxford magistrates youth court.
