A SURPRISE eye punch at the Purple Turtle landed a teenager in hospital. 

At around 2.15am on Saturday, July 8, a 19 year-old man was sitting in the garden of the Gun Street bar with two friends. 

An unknown man ran up behind the victim and punched him in the eye before making off. 

The teenager sustained a significant injury to his right eye which required hospital treatment.

He has since been discharged.

Investigating officer, Police Constable Richard Probert, said: "This was an unprovoked assault on the victim, who sustained a significant eye injury and has been left shaken and distressed.

"We would like to speak to anyone in the area at the time of the offence who may have seen the incident happen or a male running from the scene shortly afterwards.

"If anyone witnessed the offence or has any information, please call Thames Valley Police on 101, quoting incident reference 43170201132."
