SHOPPERS and diners watched on as firefighters doused a blaze in a light fitting on Friday night.
People sat along Riverside, The Oracle, had to move aside as fire engines squeezed down the narrow river path.
Crews from Caversham Road, Wokingham Road and Wokingham Fire Stations were called to the scene at around 8pm.
A witness said: "Two of the fire engines had to make their way down the path by the new Greek restaurant.
"I was worried they wouldn't fit, and one had to reverse, but they both made it to where the new Lebanese restaurant is and fire crews walked down to see where the fire was."
A spokesman for Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue service confirmed the fire was doused with and there were no injuries.
