CLIMBING the country’s highest mountain is a feat in itself– so imagine lugging a bedroom’s worth of furniture along the journey too.

That’s exactly what a group of Reading–based removal men have done, in aid of a charity.

The team, from Barleycorn Removals and Caversham Moves Ltd, completed the herculean task in seven hours, carrying a double bed, mattress, and bedside table up the 4450ft mountain.

On June 16, six removal men carried the furniture in fog, rain and near- zero degree temperatures to the summit to raise money for Footsteps Foundation, a children’s physio charity.

At the top the men assembled the bedroom and posed for photos on the bed, before starting the long hike back down.

Other hikers along the route cheered them on, one said: “I passed you while I was going up and you were coming down. I can barely walk today – no idea how you all managed to carry that stuff. Well done.”

Chris, the organiser, said: “We are all keen mountain hikers and so we came up with the idea of combining the day-job with our hobby, fundraising for this great charity that helps children with disabilities get up on their feet.

“Last year we did a sofa up Scafell and loved it, so this year we took on Ben Nevis with the full set of bedroom furniture.”
