A MAN was arrested following an incident in Reading town centre. 

Police were called to The Oracle yesterday afternoon. 

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "We were called at 12.51pm to reports of an altercation.

"One woman had been knocked over during the altercation and members of the public intervened.

"One man has been arrested on suspicion of affray and he is currently in police custody.

"We are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information should call 101, reference 706 of 5/6."

Paramedics were also drafted to the scene and a woman was treated for injuries. She did not require hospital treatment.

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service added: "We got the call at 12.50 to reports of an altercation involving a man and a woman outside of M&S in Broad Street.

"We sent a rapid response vehicle to the scene and police also attended. 

"The woman was treated for minor injuries."
