READING FC fans have slammed the 'outrageous' ticket prices for the Championship play-off final against Huddersfield Town next Monday.
Royals have been allocated more than 38,000 for biggest match of the season at Wembley Stadium, with tickets ranging between £36 and £98.
However, fans learned recently that the prices for the EFL League One play-off final, which saw Millwall promoted to the Championship on Saturday, were nearly £20 cheaper.
One fan wrote an email to EFL, seen by the Chronicle, which read: "I'd like to hear your justification for the outrageous ticket prices you have implemented for the Championship play-off final at Wembley.
"My team, Reading, have made a superb commitment to affordable football all season, capping prices for away fans at £20 and ensuring home fans pay the same.
"With the price of attending football already spiralling for the average supporter, the play-off final should be an opportunity for yourselves to set an example to clubs and promote affordable ticket prices, especially for such a massive game.
"Instead, you have chosen to laugh in the face of any attempts to make football affordable and instead set astronomical prices that will leave many fans in a position in which they cannot attend."
Royals had sold more than 28,000 tickets as of Thursday morning.
Those play off final ticket prices are astronomical. Can the new owners subsidise the fans @ReadingFC?! #readingfc #Playoffs #RFC

@Smudgersport In the family area which is category 1 it's £64 for adult and £32 for concession. And that's before fees.

Reading's 38,000 seat allocation was increased this morning (Monday) as tickets went on general sale.
But not every fan felt tickets were priced too highly and that the cost always goes up for matches at Wembley.
@Smudgersport See it from both sides... 1) not in line with #RFC prices, and too much for some unfortunately. 2) It's a one off day out. Go if you can.

@Craigo1871 @Smudgersport Wembley and the FA are opportunists. They know they could charge what the like as supporters of both teams would pay an inflated price.

@Smudgersport they've sold nearly 80k tickets at these prices. Why would they reduce them? Football is a money spinner. Is what it is.
