DEATHS of vulnerable teenagers have been linked to a harmful online game called The Blue Whale Challenge.

However, Thames Valley Police issued a statement today (May 11) saying the force has not yet received any reports of suicide linked to the game.

The 50-day online challenge has been linked to at least 130 deaths in Russia and UK police have started warning parents.

It is believed a group administrator encourages teenagers to undertake a series of horrific tasks, including self harm, before telling them to commit suicide on the 50th day.

A spokesman said: "Thames Valley Police is issuing the following notice after reports in the media and elsewhere that there have been a number of suicides in the Thames Valley Police area linked to an online game.

"Thames Valley Police has not received any reports of suicide linked to the game which is reportedly called ‘The Blue Whale Challenge’.

"It is unclear where these reports began.

"However, we would urge anyone who has any concerns about the welfare of friends or family to contact 101 or in an emergency 999."
