A MAN who was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries after being found unconcious has died today.

The 55-year-old was discovered in the early hours of Sunday, May 7 on Prince of Wales Avenue and has died two days later after he was taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital in a critical condition.

His next of kin has been informed and his death is being treated as unexplained.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for information in connection with his death after he was found inside a property shortly after 2.30am.

Officers are attempting to trace a woman who may have information about how the man sustained his injuries.

She is mixed race, 5ft 2ins, aged approximately 35 years old, slim with long black wavy hair.

Police believe she was with the man and may have valuable information.

Investigating officer detective inspector Jon Groenen, of Berkshire Force CID, said: "We are working to establish how the man, who has now sadly died in hospital, came to be injured.

"We are carrying out checks in the area and, as part of this, I would like to speak to the woman who has been described who may have been with the deceased man prior to the incident as she may have information which could help us to piece together what happened.

"I would also like to speak to anyone who has seen anything suspicious in the area of Prince of Wales Avenue and Oxford Road between 2am to 2.30am on Sunday.

"If you have any information which could assist the investigation please come forward and speak to police."

Investigating officer, detective inspector Laura Macinnes based at Reading police station added: “We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to speak to police.

"We believe a woman who was at the scene could have vital information.

“If you have any information, or saw a woman with the victim prior to the incident please contact police via the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference URN 187 7/5."
