ATTENTION may be on Reading FC's promotion bid to the Premier League, but there is another football team catching the eye this season.

The town's bus company have already secured silverware, as Reading Buses FC won the final of the National Passenger Transport Sports Association football tournament.

The side achieved success in their first season back after a 16-year absence, lifting the Cadwallader Cup in Birmingham after a convincing 6-1 victory over Arriva Merseyside Green Lane depot.

Goals from Jason Lewis (2), Adam Colaco, Devon Reid, Calos Ford-Wallace and Tristan Campbell gave them victory, with the match organisers crowning Tristan Campbell man of the match.

Martijn Gilbert, chief executive of Reading Buses, who attended the final, said: “We are extremely proud of the team and their efforts in the competition.

“It’s a fantastic achievement by them all under the stewardship of team manager Alan Campbell.

"It’s a big thank you and well done to everyone involved in the team and to those who went along and supported the players on the day.”

The team is mainly made up of drivers, but other departments at Reading Buses are also represented.
