A MYSTERIOUS car fire started in the early hours of Saturday morning in Tilehurst is being investigated by police.
Caversham Road fire station were called out at around 2.30am on May 6 to Kentwood Hill near Victoria Recreation Ground.
A small Fiat car was 'completely burnt out' by the time fire fighters arrived at the scene.
Although nobody was hurt during the blaze, the cause of the fire remains unknown.
Thames Valley Police are investigating and have been approached for comment.
Crew manager Neill Rae from Caversham Road said: "We were called out to a car fire at 2.30am.
"The car was well alight by the time we arrived at Victoria Recreation Ground.
"The small Fiat car was difficult to identify. By the time we got to the fire the car was completely burnt out and we couldn't tell what colour it was.
"Due to the time of day we were able to get to the incident in good time and nobody was hurt.
"However, we have no idea how the fire started or who actually owned the car.
"Due to the suspicious nature of the fire the matter has been handed over to Thames Valley Police."
