THE fastest amateur woman across the Line at the London Marathon was running the race for the just the second time.

Anna Boniface crossed the finish line on Sunday with a time of just two hours 37 minutes. She was the first woman over the line from the mass start.

The Reading Athletics Club runner said: "The marathon was amazing.

"I've done it once before and it's just the most exhilarating experience.

"It train with Reading Athletics Club, I'm part of something called 'the Rob squad' and we train with Rob McKim.

"The marathon is my main discipline but I also do cross country running.

"I did the marathon in 2.45 last year and beat that this year.

"We were predicting a time around there. I was hoping for six minute miles which I was pleased to keep up."

The Twyford runner is enjoying a well-earned break as she celebrates her 26th birthday today (Thursday).

"I'm looking at doing another marathon in autumn," she continued. "I haven't decided which one yet.

"I love the Reading Half Marathon too, it's one of my favourite races."

She was running in aid of the Thames Valley Air Ambulance and has already raised more than £750, smashing her original target of £300.
