NOMINATIONS have been flooding in for Reading's new awards series focused on the town's culture.

The Reading Cultural Awards celebrate all the fantastic events across the town from art exhibitions to plays, public events talented artists and whole host more.

You can nominate your cultural heroes now for one of 12 amazing categories.

The awards evening will be capped off with a special glitzy awards ceremony at The Olympia Ballroom on June 29.

Nigel Horton Baker, executive director of organiser Reading UK CIC, said: "The first Reading Cultural Awards are designed to celebrate everything that is great about cultural life in Reading.

"Our town is increasingly a great place to live and work and a rich cultural life is a major part of the quality of life we enjoy in Reading.

"Join us in celebrating and championing the best by nominating your favourite cultural organisation, venue, show or performance of the last year."

If you need some inspiration nominations already received include Reading Between the Lines' King Henry I performed in St James Church for the Made in Reading award.

The Bulmershe Ensemble have been tipped for two categories, Culture Ambassador Award and Best Education project, after wowing the country with spellbinding performances on The Choir.

The illumination of Thames Tower last December for Light Up Reading has been put forward for the Arts and Business in Partnership along with a whole host more nominations.

Nominations are still open and you can put any of these events forward for other categories or support them in one they have already been entered in.

So get nominating and put your cultural heroes forward to be in with a chance of claiming the prize at the inaugural awards.
