THE EPIC fantasy author and survival expert Robin Hobb will be signing copies of her latest book, 'Assasin's Fate', at Waterstones Broad Street.

Having spent much of her childhood in Alaska, Hobb grew up surrounded by the wilderness, learning to raise wolf cubs, skin moose and survive in the elements.

Her general hardiness would see her woo a herring and salmon fisherman, run a small holding and act as post-mistress for her remote community – all whilst sewing the seeds of an illustrious career in fiction.

She came to the world's attention with the 'Fitz and the Fool' trilogy, which concludes with her latest book.

At 12.30pm on May 5 she will appear at the Reading bookshop, where one lucky Chronicle reader will be presented with a signed copy of 'Assassin's Fate' by the woman herself.
