A LOVING father is raising funds for a specialist school that changed his son's life.

Rupert Mann is running the London Marathon for Mary Hare School, which provides support for severely deaf children all over the UK.

They receive education and support to help them achieve their full potential in life.

He said: "This is a very personal charity to me as I have a severely deaf son who attends the school."

"Mary Hare School has been a life changer for him and has set him up to face the future and achieve his dream."

His son Willoughby was diagnosed as being profoundly deaf at the late age of two, it was too severe for hearing aids.

He added: "We took the decision to give him bilateral cochlear implants, which is a surgically implanted electronic device that provides a sense of sound to a person who cannot hear.

"He is still profoundly deaf, but can now access hearing with the device on."

The council pay the fees for children who attend the school, but anything else purchased by the school is dependent on charity fundraising.
