ONE of the town’s most well known dentists has decided to call it a day after more than 40 years in the industry.
Bakhshish Ranu, who ran the dental practice in Shinfield Road, treated his final patient earlier this month.
The 74-year-old, of Sonning, will use his new found time to travel and visit family members in India and across the globe.
He said: “At the start I was the only dentist doing emergency calls.
“I only took two weeks off every year.
“A lot of people have written me cards and given me gifts.”
Dr Ranu said he always stuck to traditional dentistry whilst others were branching into cosmetic services and botox.
“The area has changed all together since I started practicing,” he continued.
“For a start they were still building it. Dentistry has changed a lot but the relations you have with the patients has stayed the same.
“Basically it was a family practice.”
Dr Ranu used to work at the Shinfield Road Dental Practice before retiring earlier this year.
