TALENTED tailors will be hoping for a seamless run in this year's Reading Retail Awards after being nominated for their outstanding attention to detail and customer service.

La Sartoria, based in Market Place in the town centre, is in the running for a prestigious business award after gaining recognition in the 'Service with a Smile' category of the 2017 contest.

Ilenia Mocci, owner of the Italian tailors, says establishing a one-to-one connection with each and every customer is crucial to her business.

She is hopeful of reaching the final stages of the competition despite only being a small chain, but the recognition and positive feedback of satisfied regulars is reward enough for the team.

"It makes you very humble. Feedback is the most important thing to us and it is important for us to know the customer is happy with the service they receive," Ilenia said.

"It would be absolutely amazing to make it to the finals. We have all been in Reading for a long time, we know the area and the people very well and is important to establish good relations with customers to keep them coming back.

"If people aren't happy with the service we provide, we always try to find ways of improving, but generally we are known as friendly and approachable, but also an affordable alternative.

"Everyone is unique and when you have a nicely fitted garment it gives you confidence and it can change you whole mood."

La Sartoria has been a fixture of the town centre for more than a year after Ilenia moved to Reading from Italy four years ago.

They were recommended by Michael Bourton, who said: "La Sartoira offers an amazing service, with some of the friendliest people in Reading and always at a great price.

"I cannot find a single flaw with the service provided by La Sartoria, which is always delivered by friendly and knowledgeable staff."

Entry forms for the Reading Retail Awards are available at Broad Street Mall and The Oracle. Nominations close on Monday, July 10.
