A CHAMPION marksman is hosting a charity clay pigeon shoot at The Royal Berkshire Shooting Club to support disabled children.

George Digweed MBE, who became the first person to win a world title in four different decades, will oversee proceedings in Pangbourne next month.

The charity shoot, which is scheduled for Tuesday, May 30, will raise awareness and vital funds for Caudwell Children, a national charity providing practical and emotional support for disabled children and their families.

Kerrie Davies from Caudwell Children said: “We have been able to provide more than £37 million worth of services to over 20,000 children and their families.

“We’ve supported children with over 600 different medical conditions and helped them to access a range of specialist equipment, treatments and therapies, alongside a variety of short break activity days and a dream holiday to Disney World, in Florida.

“Money raised through the shoot will be invaluable in helping us to support even more disabled children across the UK. We can’t thank George Digweed enough for helping our cause.”

The shoot will see teams of four enjoy breakfast, followed by a morning of shooting on one of the most expansive grounds in the country.

The Royal Berkshire Shooting Club was voted the nation’s favourite clay ground in 2013, by the readers of Clay Shooting Magazine.

No previous experience is required to take part, as the experts at the club will be able to teach newcomers to the sport.

Tickets are still available for teams of four for £1,750.
