FURRY friends were the centre of attention this week as Alok Sharma MP officially opened a new veterinary practice in Tilehurst, writes Olivia Rennie.

The MP for Reading West cut the ribbon at Vets4Pets, which opened its doors for the first time on Friday, March 24.

The Oxford Road practice welcomed distinguished guests for a guided tour of the state of the art facilities, including a digital X-ray machine and laboratory.

Alok Sharma MP said: “I was delighted to open the newest Vets4Pets practice and wish the team all the best for the future.

“I was thrilled to be invited to open the first Reading Companion Care surgery in 2012 and it is great to see this business continue to expand in the local area.”

Vets4Pets is located inside the existing Pets at Home store in Reading Retail Park, with events such as face painting held throughout the weekend to mark the occasion.

Hassan Salamian, co-owner of the new veterinary practice was delighted to welcome Mr Sharma to the grand opening and he hopes his surgery will serve a vital role in the community.

He said: “We are honoured that Mr Sharma was able to take the time to attend today, and cut the ribbon to celebrate the opening of Vets4Pets Tilehurst, having also attended the opening of our Companion Care Reading surgery too.

“We are pleased to be able to open another practice, and would like to thank all of our clients for their continued interest in, and support of the new surgery and we look forward to getting to know you all.”
