A SKILLED footballing teenager has broken a Guinness World Record and raised money in memory of his late grandfather.

In December Tommy Boyd, 13, completed ten Maradona Sevens - a football juggle where the ball touches each foot, knee, shoulder and the head - in 29.78 seconds.

After a three month administrative wait, the Caversham boy was declared a world record breaker earlier this week.

As well as the accolade, he raised £810 for Bloodwise, a blood cancer charity close to Tommy's heart after his grandfather died of Leukaemia last year.

"I would like to thank everyone who supported me raising funds to beat blood cancer," said the district and Queens Park Ranger's player, who dreams of turning professional one day.

" Always strive for excellence in everything you do, together we were amazing and I know that my Grandad is so very proud."

Matt Lawley, Head of Sports Events at Bloodwise, praised Tommy's fundraising effort.

He said: “We are constantly inspired by the stories of those fundraising for us and the dedication of our supporters like Tommy.

"Every penny raised for Bloodwise will help us in our mission to stop people dying and make patients’ lives better.”
