PARAMEDICS are set to stream live incidents in a bid to reduce mistakes and improve training.
Bosses at Thames Valley Air Ambulance announced crew members will soon carry live streaming cameras on their person so medical experts watching can assess whether they need extra supplies like blood or plasma packs.
Staffers at South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) will be able to watch over medical staff as they treat patients on the scene in a move to prevent unnecessary interruptions and save lives.
The footage will also be used for air ambulance training and as a way to review paramedics work and ensure best practice.
Dr Syed Masud, consultant in Emergency Medicine and Pre-Hospital Medicine (HEMS), said: “When senior clinicians are being asked by staff at the scene of a medical emergency or major trauma for advice, those clinicians can now see live footage of what is happening.”
He added: “This not only saves valuable time – and in the life-threatening emergencies that air ambulance staff are sent to, every second counts – but also means more accurate advice can be given because the actual patient or incident can be seen, which improves the already high quality of care provided still further.”
