HUNDREDS of athletes ran, swam and peddled into action raising funds for Comic Relief on March 9.

The racers took part in the Green Park Reading Triathlon challenged to swim up to 20 lengths of Nuffield Health and Fitness Club's pool, a 10 or 20 km cycle ride and finish with either a 2.5 or 5 km run in the park.

Nicole Coulson, lifestyle manager at Mapletree UK Management Ltd saidd: “This is the 8th triathlon which we have held and it always has popular support from the occupiers based here at Green Park.

"It is an opportunity to see which occupier has the fittest members of staff, whilst raising money for good causes.

"We are still collecting in the sponsorship money. We would like to thank everyone who took part, helped out and everyone who came along to cheer their friends and colleagues on.

"Green Park is perfect for this type of event, with its great health club facilities and flat, even roads. This helps ensure both the cycling and running stages go smoothly for the competitors."

The race on Thursday, March 9, has already raised several thousand pounds for the Red Nose Day campaign.
