AN ARMED robber fled a Caversham newsagents after being confronted by a member of staff.
At around 7.30pm on Thursday a man Woodcote Way News brandishing what looked like a gun.
His demands for cash were cut short by an employee however, causing him to flee from the shop.
No injuries were sustained during the short altercation.
Now police are looking for a slim man who was wearing dark, hooded clothing and stands at around 6ft.
Detective constable Marius York, based at Reading Force CID, said: "This was a frightening incident for the member of staff, but thankfully no one was injured and the offender left empty-handed.
"We appreciate the concern in the community that this may cause, but a thorough investigation is now underway to try and locate the offender.
"If anyone witnessed the incident or has any information which may help us, please call the Thames Valley Police 24-hour Enquiry Centre on 101, quoting reference 43170047722."
Today a 26 year-old man from Oxford was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery in connection with the incident.
