FIREFIGHTERS rushed to the scene after a car overturned in a road notorious for accidents.

At around 11.30am a car flipped over in Burys Bank Road, Thatcham, the third car to crash on the road in as many months.

The 54-year-old female driver ended up in a nearby ditch, but escaped from the car unharmed before crews arrived.

Simon Stevenson, crew manager from Newbury Fire Station, said: "We have had another vehicle overturn on Burys Bank Road in Thatcham.

"It ended up on its roof and in a ditch, but nobody was hurt. This was at about 11.30am. Dee Road Fire Station were dispatched, but were not required as the driver had escaped the car by the time we arrived.

"We have had three vehicles in as many months on exactly the same stretch of road end up in the same way.

"It is becoming a notorious area for drivers to take corners too quickly."

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service added: "We were called at 10.51 to reports of a car that had rolled on its roof into a ditch.

"We sent an ambulance and a rapid response unit. The 54-year-old woman had got herself out of the car and was unharmed."
