I do agree that reckless drivers should be given long sentences as their actions have cost people their lives. However, I think the importance should be weighted more on the education of reckless driving rather than the retribution of their acts. As opposed to spending their lives in prison, I believe it would be more beneficial to them and the community if they spent their time doing something like community service.

Dangerous drivers who are convicted of manslaughter should be disqualified from driving and not imprisoned for life. But those behind the wheel who intend to kill should be put behind bars for a lengthy period, if not life.

I feel increasing maximum sentences could be a fear tactic to tackle drink driving, but quite often these basic tactics don't actually have the desired effect. I believe in the sentiment of tackling dangerous driving, but I'm not sure that would be the most effective way.

When someone gets in their car and drives dangerously on the roads they know deep down it could end in a tragedy. Dangerous drivers who have no care for others on the roads and go on to kill another should be given a sentence of life imprisonment.

I think it very much depends on the individual circumstances of each case. At the end of the day these people have to live with what they have done for the rest of their lives, and know that they have not only taken one life but destroyed a whole family.
