A PENSIONER who was crossing the road was struck by a bus earlier today.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Vastern Road, Reading, following reports of a collision between an OAP and a double-decker bus.

They arrived to find the woman concious and breathing, but she was in need of emergency treatment by paramedics.

Roads Policing Officers sealed off a section of the road while they probed the crash, and a spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "We got a call at 10.55 following a report of a bus had collided with a pedestrian.

"A woman in her 70s was crossing the road and the bus clipped her.

"Paramedics were called and they were treating her at the scene but she was concious and breathing at the time."

A spokesperson from South Central Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 10.53am to Vastern Road with reports of a woman hit by a bus. 

"An ambulance officer, ambulance crew and specialist paramedic were in attendance.

"They treated a female for non-life threatening injuries. She was taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital."
