A GANG of four broke into a house and brutally attacked a man last night.
At around 8pm on December 29 they barged into a property in Marshland Square, Emmer Green.
Police patrols in the area have been stepped up to reassure residents after the 'targetted' attack.
Once inside the men attacked the occupant, in his twenties, leaving him with head and leg injuriess.
The victim is currently in hospital receiving treatment.
Police think the assault is linked to an earlier incident in Alston Walk, Caversham, which saw another man in his twenties rushed to hospital with head and leg injuries following an attack by up to five men.
Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Will Crowther said: “We are investigating this incident which we believe is linked to another assault in Alston Walk which happened at around 4.30am yesterday morning.
“We believe this assault was a targeted attack.
“We are continuing reassurance patrols and there will be an increased police presence whilst we continue to investigate.
“We would ask anyone with information to contact the Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101.”
