MUSE are the first headliner to be confirmed for Reading Festival 2017.
Known for mixing guitar driven rock with epic orchestral ensembles, the Devon three piece will return six years after closing the festival in 2011.
They will be joined by a host of acts including Bastille, Architects, Glass Animals and Against the Current.
A particular highlight in the first round of confirmations is Major Lazer, who found mainstream success with 2015's 'Lean On'.
Drum and bass DJ Andy C is another set to bring big beats to Reading's traditionally rock heavy line-up.
Melvin Benn, head of Festival Republic, said: “I’m thrilled to be able to announce Muse as the first headliner for Reading and Leeds 2017.
"Their incredible live show promises to be an unforgettable performance - we have so much more to announce and I can’t wait to reveal the rest of the line up.”
