A 43-year-old MAN from Earley has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a man was hit in Newtown in the early hours of yesterday (Saturday) morning.
At around 1.50am a man was crossing London Road near Amity Road when a dark coloured car hit him and then drove off.
The victim, a man in his thirties, was seriously injured and has been taken to hospital where he is currently being treated.
Insp Gavin Biggs of Roads Policing department said: “A man has been very seriously injured in this collision. The driver of the vehicle that inflicted the damage on him has left the scene seemingly without a thought for the victim.
“We are keen to hear from anyone in the Reading or Berkshire area who has seen a dark-coloured car with front end damage – damage that was not there before Saturday.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Thames Valley Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
The 43-year-old from Earley has been released on bail until March 28, 2017.
