A Tesco lorry overturned on a junction close to the Madejski Stadium on Saturday afternoon, causing major delays and tailbacks.

At 12.27pm South Central Ambulance Service were called to the A33 at the Bennett Road junction.

Upon arrival paramedics were confronted with a heavy goods vehicle on its side and the driver walking alongside the lorry.

He was treated for minor injuries at the scene but, despite the front window of the cabin being smashed in, did not require hospital treatment.

At 14.15pm police were still marshalling cars around the vehicle as crash investigators inspected the scene.

It is currently unclear what caused the crash, although a set of traffic lights ten metres back from the lorry's resting place had been smashed off the pole.

A group of around ten Tesco workers could be seen unloading the HGV's contents at 14.30pm.
