AN emotional tribute was paid during Reading's Tuesday evening fixture with Aston Villa at the Madejski to a Royals fan who died earlier this month.

Season ticket holder Jamie Golding sadly lost his battle with bowel cancer. He was only 28.

His family were guests of honour during the Championship clash and watched on as the 20,331 spectators applauded and chanted his name in the 28th minute in memory of his life.

Former Royals manager Brian McDermott penned Jamie a letter and sent him a signed shirt after he was diagnosed and, current manager Jaap Stam had also been in touch to send over items.

Jamie and his father Daran sat in the same seats in the east stand ever since the stadium opened in 1998.
