A 25-YEAR-OLD who killed a man two days after Christmas Day in 2015 has been convicted of murder.

Damir Begmatov, of Chester Street, Swindon, was found guilty at Kingston Crown Court on Wednesday of murdering 36-year-old Bobir Esanov, an Uzbekistan national who lived in Reading.

On Sunday, December 27, officers were called by paramedics to an address in London Road at 4.20am where Esanov was found dead.

Begmatov was arrested on Saturday, January 9 2016 and charged with murder two days later.

He pleaded not guilty to the offence.

“I am pleased that Begmatov has been convicted of murder,” said the senior investigating officer, detective inspector Stuart Blaik, based at Aylesbury police station.

“This has been a very difficult time for the family of Mr Esanov, and I hope that Begmatov's conviction will help them in some way to come to terms with their loss.”

Begmatov will be sentenced on Wednesday, September 21.
