PRANKSTERS have left boaters stunned after this mysterious red postbox appeared on the River Thames last week.
Apparently delivered by a playful local artist the installation looks similar to one hoisted onto Sonning Bridge back in 2013.
Sited on the way out west of Reading at the edges of Mapledurham no one is quite sure how it got there.
One neighbour, Tom Fenton, who snapped these pictures, said: "We were out on the boat on Saturday up the river by Mapledurham and there is a huge brick wall and there it was.
"Obviously it cannot be a working postbox but it looks nice.
"The reason I noticed it is because we'd we had been in the Bull at Sonning earlier on and they have the one that used to be on Sonning Bridge in the pub.
"The more the better I say - it's a good bit of fun."
Anyone thinking of writing a letter to the Chronicle this week is recommended to try another, easier to access, postbox.
