THAMES Valley Police is appealing for information after a traffic accident in Berkshire which left one driver with serious head injuries.

The accident happened at around 9.50pm on Saturday evening on the A34 near Newbury.

According to police, a white Vauxhall Corsa was travelling southbound on the A34 just after the junction for Compton when it collided with the central reservation.

The car crossed through the barrier, onto the opposite carriageway, when it hit a blue BMW 1 Series which was travelling northbound. 

The driver of the Vauxhall Corsa, a 24-year-old man, sustained a broken leg, a ruptured aorta and other internal injuries. 

The driver of the BMW, a 28-year-old man, sustained a serious head injury and spinal fracture. 

Both were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for treatment and are currently still in hospital. 

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or who has any other information which could help with the appeal.
