ANTI-NUCLEAR protestors are due to campaign outside the Atomic Weapons Establishment in Aldermaston today.
It's part of a month-long series of protests at the plant.
"The aim is to make it as difficult as possible for the plant to continue its ongoing work assembling, refurbishing and upgrading the atomic warheads for Britain's Trident submarine-launched intercontinental ballistic missiles," explained Nigel Day, from the Oxford Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.
"Armed convoys transport the nuclear warheads between AWE Burghfield and RNAD Coulport near the Faslane submarine base in Scotland. The convoys often travel through Oxfordshire on the A34 and M40. They carry the most deadly cargo in Britain."
Mr Day said that with the future of the Trident programme uncertain, it was important that the voice of peace and nuclear disarmament was heard. Parliament is due to vote later this year on whether to replace Trident.
He added: "The campaigners will protest at the construction of nuclear weapons at Burghfield. Our intervention will be entirely peaceful and non-violent, but it will be determined, imaginative and persistent."
