BEAT the Street is careening towards a whopping finale by extending this year's campaign by a day and drafting in some giant participants.

The challenge will now close on Saturday May 28 when two 30ft tall giant puppets produced by the Rising Sun Arts Centre will lead a procession through the town centre before tapping in for the final time this year.

The procession forms part of Rising Sun's A Landscape of Charms and Machines performance that forms part of Reading's Year of Culture.

The event will see the Chalk Giant and the Flint Giant, accompanied by the Tongues of Fire procession band, parade along Broad Street in Reading from 12pm to 2pm.

The giant will tap an enormous Beat the Street card onto a specially constructed over-sized Beat Box, which participants in the game will be invited to have their picture taken with.

Dan Harris, engagement manager for Beat the Street Reading, said: “We are so grateful to theRising Sun Arts Centre for all their hard work in bringing the giants to Beat the Street during Reading’s Year of Culture.

“It’s a real sight to behold and we can’t wait to see what happens when he taps the giant Beat Box! Please come down and enjoy the last day of Beat the Street 2016.”
