THIS is the man police believe is connected to an attempted murder in Sidmouth Street.

The person in these CCTV pictures is thought to go by the name Diego and is being linked to the stabbing which took place on Boxing Day last year.

Following the ordeal a 28-year-old man suffered a punctured lung and had to be rushed to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

He has since been discharged.

Thames Valley Police has today re-released this picture of an unidentified man who they believe to be in his twenties and linked to the attack.

He is black, around 5ft 8ins tall and of a medium build.

A second man, also thought to be involved, is no longer being sought after officers successfully identified him.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Ben Sherriff of Force CID based at Reading police station, said: "I would appeal to anyone who recognises this man, who we believe is known as Diego, to make contact with the police as soon as possible.

"If you are harbouring either this man then you could be committing a crime, so it is vitally important that you contact us now.

"The easiest way to do this is by visiting your nearest police station or by calling 101.

"Members of the public are advised not to approach this man, but instead call 999."
