A MAN dressed as Jim Carrey's character The Mask is among those being sought after a man was beaten to the ground in west Reading.

These pictures, released by Thames Valley Police, show the men inspectors believe could shine light on what happened during the attack last Sunday.

Among them is man with green painted face and yellow suit, mirroring the main character in the nineties comedy film.

The assault took place at around 4.20am and saw the 21-year-old victim, who was walking with a friend, followed and shouted at by a group of men.

After his friend left the area the man was approached at the crossroads of Catherine Street and Beresford Road.

A punch was then thrown and missed before he was struck on the back of the head and repeatedly kicked and punched while on the floor.

Following the attack the man realised his wallet was missing.

He suffered cuts and bruises but did not require hospital treatment.

A force spokesman said: "Thames Valley Police is releasing CCTV images of a group of people police officers would like to speak to in connection with a robbery in Reading.

"Police would like to speak to the people shown in the CCTV images as they may have information which could help with the investigation.

"If you have any information about the incident please call the 24-hour Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101."
