THE driver of a white Audi is being hunted by police after leaving a man with a fractured cheekbone and eye sockets in an unprovoked attack.
The 57-year-old victim was driving along Blundells Road in Tilehurst when he was attacked by the Audi driver yesterday.
The victim's Volkswagen Golf was turning right into Chichester Road at about 9.45pm when the three door Audi, travelling in the opposite direction turned left into Chichester Road.
The Audi's driver got out of his car and punched the 57-year-old man in the face three times.
The victim was verbally abused before the attack which also broke his glasses.
He was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital with a fractured cheekbone and fractured eye sockets. He has since been discharged.
The assailant was an Asian man, around 6ft 1ins tall, with a short dark beard. He is thought to be in his 30s and wore a blue tracksuit and spoke with a local accent.
Investigating officer, Det Con Amy Hickman-Holden said: “This was an unprovoked attack on this 57-year-old victim who sustained horrific injuries.
“I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information about the offence to contact police.
“Do you recognise the description of the offender or the vehicle, a white three door Audi with a number plate starting VK14? If you do then please visit your nearest police station or call police on 101."
