A LORRY driver who suffered a "medical accident " behind the wheel was rushed to hospital earlier today.
The vehicle left the carriageway of the M4 between junctions 12 and 13 and veered into a ditch.
Paramedics and police officers raced to the scene shortly before midday and found the driver in a stable condition.
They treated the man on the scene, but took him to Royal Berkshire Hospital for further treatment.
A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a lorry that had gone off the road and down a ditch.
"We sent an ambulance and an ambulance officer.
"The driver had had a medical accident at the wheel. He was concious and breathing but he was taken to hospital."
