A MOTORCYCLIST remains in hospital with serious injuries after a collision with a car yesterday.

The rider was thrown from his black Honda 125 when they tried to overtake an Audi estate car.

The two vehicles were travelling along the same direction on Basingstoke Road, Spencers Wood, but they crashed as the car attempted to turn right onto Clares Green Road.

The driver of the black Audi was unharmed after the incident shortly before 4.30pm, but the motorcyclist has been taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with head injuries.

Detectives from Thames Valley Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Police Constable Roma Bolsover, from Roads Policing, said: "The collision took place next to the Farriers Arms pub and the motorbike landed near Spencers Village Hall where dance classes were taking place at the time.

"It may be that someone in the hall saw what happened. If anyone has any information or saw anything at all, please contact me via the 101 non-emergency number."

The biker was wearing dark motorcycling gear with a black and white helmet. The bike had an L plate on the front.
