THIS is the lady who has picked up Reading Buses' coveted 'Star of the Year' award.

Vicky James was overwhelmed when she picked up the title, beating off stiff competition from Bill Street, 'Engineering Star' and Mo Kamara, 'Driving Star'.

"I can't believe it," she said after the announcement.

"I really am in shock. It’s amazing to be recognised like this and I feel so excited to have won.”

The 47-year-old landed the award during the firms annual celebrations at the Highfield Park Hotel in Hook.

The evening commends the work and success of the company's employees.

Martijn Gilbert, CEO and event host, said: "Choosing a single ‘Star of the Year’ was, as always, extremely difficult.

"Vicky’s work in customer services has demonstrated time and again that she is always willing to go the extra mile to help the customer.

“Vicky is liked and respected by her peers who know that she is always looking out for our customers and is committed to doing the right thing for them. She has a pleasant demeanour on the phone and helps all customers equally, championing their views and always wanting the best for them.

“Our Star of the Year must be someone who sets themselves high standards all year round and can be a great ambassador for the company. It must be someone who demonstrates all the attributes we are looking for in our workforce and Vicky certainly ticks all these boxes.”
