As the grand opening of Reading Winter on Ice is just hours away, several of Santa's reindeers got a sneak peak at what visitors and residents can expect of the wonderland in Forbury Gardens.

They had a look round the winter ice rink at Forbury Gardens, combining the preview with some welcome refreshments at Apres Bar and experiencing some of the attractions before the event begins.

They admitted to being ‘amazed’ at how much entertainment there is and can’t wait to return for the opening with their family and friends.

They also want to remind people that catching the bus to the Winter on Ice launch is the best way to travel, avoiding the hassle of driving and parking.

A group bus ticket for four at the weekend is just £5 which the reindeers say even Santa cannot match.

And Santa will be on the ice himself on Tuesday (November 17) to launch the exciting ‘Reading Buses Grand Christmas Giveaway’ – one of the operator’s highlights of the year.

The plan is that Santa and his bus reindeer will put on an ice show to launch the giveaway spectacular.

Landing with his bus sleigh, Santa – accompanied by the bus reindeer – will be skating round the ice to tell the good boys and girls of Reading to look out for him as he spreads Christmas cheer by giving away free bus travel and other great prizes during December.
