A WOMAN had her leg broken in three places after she was attacked by a man in broad daylight.
She was walking through Reading town-centre when a man, who was carrying a walking stick, approached her in Duke Street.
The 41-year-old was knocked to the ground and kicked in the leg, causing it to break in three places, in what was described by police as a "serious assault".
She was rushed to the Royal Berkshire Hospital and transferred to the John Radcliffe Hospital for emergency surgery.
Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses for anyone who could have seen the incident, which happened on Tuesday November 3 at around 1.30pm.
The attacker was described as wearing a grey T-shirt with blue and red stripes, blue jeans and black rucksack.
A 42-year-old man from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.
He has been released on police bail until December 3.
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "This is a serious assault and I would urge anyone in this area who witnessed this incident to contact me via the Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101."
