THE HUNT for a rescue dog is on after she escaped from her adoptive parents last week.

Bonnie was saved from an Eastern European "death camp" - according to her rescuers - and bought over to the UK.

The white/tan terrier mix was on her way home with her new family when she slipped her collar at Reading service station on the M4.

Rachel Welch, one of Bonnie's rescuers, said she and her dog rescuing partner Lisa Knight have been trudging through pig farms and woodland as late as 4am trying to find her.

She said: "We haven't slept in a week.

"Bonnie isn't just a little dog, she has been through so much and we're not giving up.

"I had to take Lisa home yesterday, she was crying her eyes out all the way home.

"Bonnie was tortured and abused."

The pair enlisted the help of fire crews around Reading as well as Thames Valley Police, who have all joined the search party.

Bonnie was last seen heading off into the bushes to the left of the dog walking area sign at the far end of the service's car park on November 2.

Rachel added: "She will be very scared and also cold and hungry. She is a sweet girl but a little timid around men because of her horrid past.

A Facebook page has been set up and has already reached more than 1,300 'likes'.

Rachel and Lisa will be organising another search later on this week, and are appealing for volunteers to help out.

People came from as far as Somerset last week to join the search.
