CHARISMATIC thriller writer Lee Child has entertained an audience of fans at in the town.

Around 100 people packed Waterstones, in Broad Street, on Friday evening to listen to the Coventry born author of the international best selling Jack Reacher series.

Child opened the floor to questions from his fans.

Cheryl Dibden, events coordinator for the book store, said the people who attended the talk "wished it could be every year!"

She said: "He had a droll, gentle American accent form living in the States for so long even though he was born in the UK.

"There were just peels of laughter coming from the room and it was all very relaxed."

She added that people were asking questions about how the Jack Reacher movies came to be made and how Tom Cruise came to be the anti-hero from the novels.

"He had some great anecdotes and he'd be a fantastic dinner party guest."

Three Waterstones and Reading Chroncile competition winners received signed and dedicated copy of Child's new book Make Me which was released earlier this month.
