A MAN will be sentenced by crown court next month after groping a teenager in a convenience store.

The girl walked into the Londis shop in Basingstoke Road, Three Mile Cross, on Tuesday evening.

As she entered the stop, she was approached by John Cash, who sexually assaulted her inside the store.

The 16-year-old was left "distressed" after the attack, and reported Cash to Thames Valley Police.

Cash, of Buckingham Street, Brighton, was arrested the following day on suspicion of sexual assault.

The 56-year-old appeared in front of Reading Magistrates' Court yesterday and admitted to the charge.

Cash will be sentenced at Reading Crown Court on September 17.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "John Cash, aged 56, from Buckingham Street, Brighton was arrested on (26/8) on suspicion of sexual assault. He was charged yesterday (27/8) and pleaded guilty at Reading Magistrates’ Court.

"The conviction is in connection with an incident at the Londis store, Basingstoke Road, Three Mile Cross. At 7.50pm on Tuesday (25/8) the victim, a 16-year-old girl entered the shop and was approached by Cash who sexually assaulted her.

"This was a distressing incident for the victim and happened in the early evening in a public place."
