A MAN was charged with two counts of rape by police today.

Police were called at around 4am on Tuesday morning to reports that a 20-year-old woman had been attacked in Castle Street, Reading.

Jamal Clouden was arrested by Thames Valley Police the following day and was remanded in custody while he was quizzed by officers.

Clouden, of Crest Road in High Wycombe, was charged by police this morning.

The 20-year-old was taken to appear in front of magistrates' and was bailed to appear at Reading Crown Court on September 21.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "Jamal Clouden, aged 20, of Crest Road, High Wycombe, was charged today (29/8) with two counts of rape.

"The charges are in connection with an incident involving a 20-year-old woman at around 4am on Tuesday (25/8) in the area of Castle Street, Reading.

"Clouden was remanded in custody until he appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court today (29/8) where he was bailed to appear at Reading Crown Court on 21 September."
