A 32-year-old man from Winnersh has been charged with intimidating witnesses in a crown court case.

Police say that Brendan Wooff planned to set fire to a vehicle belonging to a relative of a witness in a crown court case, hoping to intimidate the witness on August 20.

They say he posted intimidating messages on Facebook targeting a witness in a crown court case on three occasions, May 29, August 21 and August 29.

He has ben charged with one count of taking without an owner's consent after a VW Golf was taken from a property in Winnersh on Tuesday, August 11.

The 32-year-old of Bayley Court has also been charged with two counts of witness intimidation and one count of conspiracy to commit arson.

Wooff appeared before Reading Magistrates' Court yesterday (August 25) and pleaded not guilty to the taking without owner's consent charge.

He will appear at the magistrates' court again in relation to the charge on October 8.

He did not enter a plea for the other three offences and is due to appear at Reading Crown Court on September 14 in connection with these.
