FARES are set to be frozen for the rest of the year, Reading Buses have said.

Monday August 31 will see the annual change to services, which in some previous years has resulted in a change to ticket prices.

But the bus firm have confirmed the only changes this year will be to the timetables.

Route 90 will be renumbered and rebranded as the lion 4/X4, and there will be more evening journeys between Reading and Wokingham.

Orange 13 will feature more early morning journeys, while Orange 14 will have an amended Sunday timetable removing the shorter journeys between Reading and Woodley town centre.

Perhaps the biggest changes are to the Emerald 5 and 6 routes to Whitley, which will become a 24 hour service.

Jake Osman, Marketing and Communications manager said the minor changes will affect most routes, adding: "Some years see more change than others, but the message this year is mainly one of refinement to better match our capacity to customer demand, as well as keeping fares down to ensure our buses provide a great value and sustainable travel choice for everyone.

“Any route that saw a ‘step down’ in service for the summer timetable will be back up to full strength and most routes only have some minor timetable tweaks as we constantly look to improve the dependability of our services to our customers Mr Osman added there will be some minor bus stop movements in the town centre following customer and driver feedback.
