YOUNG royals turned out for the annual Reading FC open day last week as the new season dawns.

The football club hosted its open day at the Madejski stadium, giving fans the opportunity to watch their local hero's train ahead of their friendly clash with Spanish outfit Espanol.

Fans watched the players go through various training drills on the Madejski Stadium pitch, before joining the players in a meet and greet session around the stadium.

The players, alongside co-club chairman Sir John Madejski signed autographs for fans, and struck their best poses for photographs.

The event was free to all Reading FC fans, and offered football games, the speed cage and a glitter tattooing for everyone to take part in.

Members of the Reading FC Community Trust were also on hand showcasing their work at the Royals Fun Zone, as representatives of the team.

They invited fans to take part in a blindfolded penalty shootout, an exercise designed to show how the trust's coaches work with the visually impaired as one of their disability projects.

Club mascots Kingley and Queensley were also spotted wondering around the grounds, posing for pictures with the young fans.
